I replaced everything and the brake lines and the 5 brake hoses. Now a 6 month old rear caliper is hanging up and the pedal is still soft and low. I just bought a pick up and the brakes are awesome. I can't figure this Excursion out.
WOW!! Where I live it's hilly and steep. I check everything including the brakes spring and fall, changing to/from studded snow tires.

They found 'rust jacking and severely rusted rotors. They replaced everything.
Rust jacking is where rust gets between the metal part of the brake pad and the back of the friction material. It causes drag because the pad contacts the rotor but it also causes a soft pedal because when you push on the pedal the rust compresses.
