I have a 1984 F150 5.0, 302, v8, 2bbl carb, AOD. I discovered that the exhaust manifold on the passenger side has a hole on the bottom. I'm wanting to replace both of the manifolds. Are the manifolds from 1980-1986 the same or does the 84 have a special one? I was looking at rock auto and saw they carry more manifolds for the different years as opposed to only ATP & Dorman for 1984. What would y'all recommend for a good replacement?
Any advice y'all might share would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't checked yet. I did find a junk yard close by that has a 1985 f150. There's a choke heat tube coming off going to the carburetor on the passenger side manifold. And what looks like a mechanical valve attached to the driver side manifold.
Gary's site will have a link to the EVTM under the Electrical, in the Documentation where you can see how it should be. Sounds like it maybe that tube for the choke stuff... Can you get us a picture... we like pictures.
Do you have an exhaust leak on that side?
I ask because that does not look like the as I dont see an exhaust leak at the hole.
If there was you would not see the wet oil around the hole.
That looks like a tin heat shield for the starter that fits around the manifold.
I dont have a v8 so I cant look to see if I have one like yours.

Good eye! Didn't notice that while looking on my phone. But on a bigger screen, that certainly looks like the heat stove for the heated air intake. The cast iron manifold inside is likely just fine.

As far as I know, nobody makes a reproduction heat stove. Couldn't find anything at the time when my original rusted away.
I dont think it is the heat stove tin as I am not really seeing it up top and have not known them to go on the bottom just the top.
Also you can see the starter where the cable is connected and the tin just above it.
I also believe that there was a hole there to start to drain any water that may collect on it to drain.
When you have a edge like at the hole, rust will start there. You can just make out part of the factory hole.
I dont think anyone makes a replacement and with that little hole I would not worry about it.
They do make starter heat shields to fit any motor, check Summit Racing or Jeggs.
What I would worry about is the oil leak.
Oil on a hot manifold is just asking for a fire

If you can't find a new heat stove/starter heat shield on a salvage yard truck you could always remove it and take it to a skilled welder for repair. If you're doing a concours restoration.
I appreciate it!
Just ordered some heat shielding material to re-enforce that area.
I snugged the bolts on the valve covers..probably going have to replace the gaskets. I learned from a previous thread that the upper intake manifold will have to come out to get to both of them. That's going to be the next project.
