Putting a 77 4.9 into an 88 f150

I would like to keep the engine carbureted so I don’t want to switch heads out. But I don’t know if I should switch the distributor out with the 88s or not because they have different ignition systems. Any advice on this would be helpful thank you.

You cannot use the 88 dist unless you are staying with EFI. You need a pre-85 distributor but it won't hook up to your wiring. I recommend you use an HEI distributor.

Then just hook that up to keyed power then it’s good to go. This is my first project dealing with wiring.
