My 72 dump truck 360 manual trans has a recurring issue. I'll be driving and it shuts off, i wait a minute and restart. Had the carb rebuilt and changed fuel filter. Getting plenty of gas so I suspect electrical issue. I'm stumped. Is there a way to test the coil? Could points cause this? It runs fine when it runs. I thought I'd ask here before seeking a shop that could diagnose it. Thanks
Sounds like a thermal issue, could be the coil. Does it start backup right after it dies? If not pour some cool water over the coil and see if it starts up.
It could also be just a bad connection somewhere if it happens when you hit a bump.
Thanks for the help. Replaced the coil and took a long ride, problem seems solved. I had some almost Ford blue and repainted the bracket. Looks bitchin.
