Removing Tool Tray in Regular Cab

Hello all -

I tried searching but didn't find anything on this. I need to remove the tool tray behind my seat in my 02 regular cab. Do I just pull up or are there hidden screws? Seems pretty securely mounted when I pull on it.

If anyone has done this, please let me know.

Thanks!

Well, I have a 2000 CC, and it has one behind the rear seat held down by 3 long screws. Not sure if RC and CC have the same tray...

Okay thank you. I pulled quite hard on it last night and she seems very solid. I'm betting mine has the screws too.

Thanks again

There are threaded nutserts embedded in the floor pan behind the seat, into which metric machine threaded (M8 x 1.25... I think) bolts with a captured washer are screwed into.

These bolt heads should be visible once everything is cleared out of the tray, including any matting.

The design and fastening scheme of behind the seat storage trays varies over the 18 production years of 1999 - 2016 steel body Super Duties. While what wag42 and I have described applies to the 2000 model year, in subsequent years from 2005 forward, the tray designs may have changed.

Thank you for this. I have an 02 which seems to be the year that whatever they had they used no matter how silly. So I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out now with y'alls help

It should come right out once the screws are removed. It's simpler than removing a door panel. There is no special instruction to removing. If someone was a slob and spilled chemicals or what not behind ther, it could be like a temporary glue. the truck is over 20 yrs old. Mine came right out no issue though
