Odometer sporadically goes dark, BLANK, on my 1999 Ford F150 base model. What might cause that? Odometer seems to still record truck mileage. Everything else still works and lights.

Welcome to FTE Jim, this is a common problem, the Search this Forum is sometimes hard to get the right words to find things but... it took me 2x to find the right one, so here ya go!
I need to do it on my 2000 SCab 7700 4x truck as it goes blank intermittently also... Shout-out to all the contributors and the OP @dakota_viking
Thank you, Pickupmanx2. The link you provided appears to be exactly what's needed for me or others to fix the problem. One comment in the linked thread even focused on the '99 F150, which I have, so I think I'm in great hands with your reply. THANK YOU!👍🏼

Absolutely! FTE is a great resource for our trucks, new AND old ones, lots of great write-ups and how-to's, plenty of knowledgeable folks to help find and fix your issues, along with some annoying idiots for entertainment value lol.
For what it's worth, it won't affect performance of the truck. Some people say it only happens when the lights are on. I had it happen a couple of times on mine right after I got it, about 60,000 miles ago, but it's not happened since. I have my lights on all the time. I guess that the broken solder joint vibrated back in to contact and it's fine for now. LEDs don't draw much current. Good luck.
