Okay I’m working on getting little odds and ends fixed and one is the reverse lights. On the wiring diagram that I have has power coming from the ignition switch thru the neutral safety switch which has a set of contacts in it for the reverse lights then it goes to a reverse light switch which goes nowhere another there’s a plug but it’s not connected to anything it’s just hanging off the side of the fender. Please someone explain to me why there is 2 switch in the reverse light circuit rather than just use the neutral safety switch as the only one.
Probably because Ford didn't want to have 2 wiring harnesses for AT and MT's. MT's have a reverse switch on the transmission, and don't have a neutral safety switch. The clutch pedal switch didn't happen until the late 80's I believe.
That is it. If you have an automatic, the plug on the fender well is usually jumped.
Okay. NOW THAT MAKE SENSE. I’m sitting there looking at the wiring diagram scratching my head going what’s going on here. Thanx. as soon as I get back from VC I’ll get that going.
