have not got a clue how to start fixing the voltage
have verified that the speedo cable is good, the gear sensor that goes into the transfer looks good, and the speedo will spin if you turn it manually with the end of it that goes into the transfer case. but no go when i plug it in to the transfer case.
can y'all give me some starting points for the voltage gauge and speedo issues.
The drive gear inside the transfer case can wear down or pop out of position
Stick your finger in the VSS hole and "feel" the drive gear
It should be nice and flat with no convex surface
It should be straight in there, not off to one side
When you spin the cable with your fingers, the speedo needle moves, right?

Yes it does turn when doing manually.
Searched for a while trying to find the transfer case gear.
What year of truck did the replacement cluster come from?
The individual gauges unplug from the front if you remove the clear plastic lens, the contacts they plug into can corrode and cause issues.
