Earlier this winter my left front caliper was sticking. I pulled it off to find it wasn't seized so I replaced the rubber hose portion of the brake line. This seemed to fix the issue until today. The ABS light came on and then I noticed the brakes hanging up again. I have yet to tear into it, but was wondering how to diagnose it given the fact that this time the ABS light came on, thanks . 04 Superduty, 5.4,auto transmission, regular cab, manual locking hubs.
On that vintage of truck, you'll need a code reader that can read ABS codes as well as engine codes. Your standard, cheap code readers likely can't. But the code is the first place I'd start.
The slide pins and calipers are a common issue you'll have to deal with a lot more frequently than any other vehicle you might have owned.
In the 2 years I've owned my 05 f250 I've had 2 seized calipers and 4 sets of slide pins replaced and both front hoses. Twice on the same side. Mind you the first time I cleaned and lubed the pins and a year later replaced them with new ones.
