Hi guys, I have a favor to ask you.
I have a 1989 Ford E350 7.3 IDI Econoline. The van was sitting for two months over the winter. Before that, it was running perfectly fine.
About a week ago, I replaced the starter relay, but I didn’t connect everything because I did it myself and didn’t have a wiring diagram. The previous relay was broken, and I had to start the engine by jumping a cable directly from the battery to the starter – that’s how I bought the van.
Now, when I start the van, the overdrive light is on, and when I shift into Drive, the engine revs but the van barely moves. I have to put it into 1st gear for it to move, and even then only slightly. Reverse works normally.
Could this be related to the incorrectly connected starter relay, or could it be something else?
Thank you.
starter relay: battery alone to one large terminal, the trigger wire from ignition switch to the small terminal, all other wires on other large terminal.
first thing i would do for the trans is check trans fluid level.
