that’s the problem with a diesel engine - too efficient at idle. It takes forever to heat up. Best to drive away directly on a light throttle.
i Used the block heater on my 6.0 to make it easier on the batteries, but I’ve not bothered with the 6.7 as it fires up directly and the voltage is instantly over 14V.
Like stated before, it's not that the 6.7 will not start on a cold day, it's just that IMO it makes it easier (with warmer coolant and especially warmer oil, even if slightly) for hopefully less wear and for getting up to operating temp faster in cold weather and then hopefully less fuel in the oil because those rings are sealing better at hotter temps than when cold.

I get that, and I’ll probably plug it in next winter when we’re back in Germany - the nights can get 15-20 degrees cooler than where we are in France.
My fellow LT and me took a trip down to the Keys, Key West to be exact, in December 2005 IIRC for Fantasy Fest. The festival was moved up due to a hurricane passing through in October.
Irish Kevin's was our home base bar due to advice from another officer who made yearly trips down to fish. Actually got to meet Irish Keving himself... We came down to party and enjoy the sights...
We avoided the tourist look, as he told us to do, and just wore tee shirts and cargo shorts, and of course baseball hats for me that I always wear... great place to visit. Probably a great place to live as well. Of course, you do have to deal with those pesky hurricanes and high cost insurance.
Yep, Irish Kevin's. Cool that you met him. We hang out in that corner of Duvall when we are down there on windy days. It's a cool bar. St. Patty's Day it's a mad house. Most of the time we load our bikes up in the bed of the F350 and park in a few spots that are large enough to squeeze into and seek out new restaurants and points of interest all by by bike throughout the day. I keep a cooler in the truck with my favorite libations - and am very responsible. We hang out at the beach at the Fort and various other points of interest on and around the water.
