I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I noticed that with my original slider window the rubber does not touch the frame and that means that it can be trimmed a bit, but I am relunctant to trim without knowing if it will help. I guess I will find out.
Thanks for the photos, Kubata. I can see by your photos that I have been trying to install the rubber backwards. That wide 'lip' goes on the outside! I wonder if that will make a difference. I am going to trim the protruding lip on the frame, flip the rubber around, and try once more. Thanks again.

Yes sir, I tried first with a rubber the right way seal and lmc truck solid glass. I couldn't even get the seal to stay on the glass much less into the truck. I got fed up and ordered a good ford takeout glass with a good pliable seal already installed. I like the newer style latch. Just roped it in and used some soapy water, , a pick tool and my wife.
I've been working on this rear window since Saturday. I'm ready to beat it to death with a hammer.
I think that at this point I must declare defeat. I am going to order a standard solid glass rear window. I just refuse to pay LMC because I feel I am being robbed. For them to sell seals that they know full well will not work, and then to deny a refund. Lower than whale manure.

Sorry man; same as Kubota, I’d love to lend a hand if you were in the Willamette Valley or out at the central coast.
Maybe try reaching out to a glass shop? I don’t love paying other people to do something I’m capable of, but when tools are getting thrown… success is sure to follow… eventually.
I thought I had a refund coming from the slider I bought on Amazon, so I bought another one. To my surprise, I looked up the purchase on Amazon to ck on the refund and found the UPS had lost the package and no refund has been posted.
I'm surprised that there is so much frustration centered on this window.
I feel for those of y’all struggling with this. It was a venture of epic proportions to get my front and back glass installed with the right seals that actually worked. We went through at least three seals on the rear and two on the front before something worked. If it wasn’t for Detroit Hod Rod’s incredible benevolence and patience, allowing the truck to sit in their shop for two months while waiting for parts and the glass guy’s schedule to intersect, it never would have gotten done.
What would have been a simple, routine job 20 years ago has become a frustrating treasure hunt where the mediocre “prize” is just getting the job done right.

Hey Viper Pilot. Yes, getting the right window paired with the right seal has turned out to be quite a project. The bowed window that I bought on Amazon got lost by UPS when I tried to return it. It was supposed to travel 30 miles and ended up traveling 2,000 miles. They found it in Memphis, and hopefully it is on its way hack to LA.
I have another window arriving tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers that it is going to pop right into place. I have two seals waiting for it, so one of them should work. Regarding the difficulty of getting the rear sliding window and seal to fit correctly, I would add the same about the door windows as well. Most co's are now selling windows thinner than oem (LMC is one of them, without telling customers) and the seals they are selling are made for the thin glass.
It's too bad that a 1" larger windshield isn't made so that it could be glued in with the black mastic, like newer vehicles.
This is so true. I know the early bronco guys are doing it that way. But they have the benefit of flat glass, so it is easy to cut a piece the correct size. I wonder, if a guy was doing a complete resto or paint, welding in a little bit bigger lip on the cab for the glass to set on, they using glue only.
Glory be, Amazon got the return that had been out doing a tour of the USA. And I should soon have a refund.
New window arrived yesterday..."and it's flat!!!" I measured and it is also the correct size. How about that. It is tinted, since that was the only option. Hopefully I will have it installed today. No more having to cover the cab with plastic at night.
Now I just need to decide which rubber to use, the LMC or the one that came with the window that was returned.
