Taking the shifter out

Trying to put a floor mat in my 72 F600 truck. I need to pull the shifter out so I can place the mat in position and cut holes for the shifter and em brake lever. There appears to be a cross pin there. If I knock this pin out will the shifter lift up and out?

Is this a New Process 435? Transmission code "A" on the warranty tag.

Push down on the metal cap sticking up and twist counterclockwise to unlock it from the pins, then lift the shifter out

When I asked which transmission your truck has here, you didn't respond, but here you mentioned "4-speed", so assuming it's a NP435 . . .

However, the T98A/T18/T19 is also a four-speed that was available in '72 in the F600. I've never worked with one. It looks like the cap 7220 unscrews, then a pin 7B125 is removed to the side, allowing the lever to be withdrawn?

Someday you'll post your truck's warranty tag info, and update your Signature to include info about your truck, and less assuming will happen.
