Vac pump I would suspect is the sound, C2 pumps typically just whine. That filter keeps the fluid wildly clean, they work boss for auto transmissions too. Apparently they spec ATF.
Mine is attached to fender liner. I can get you a pic if want to see it. If you work the truck hard, an external cooler is never a bad idea, runs cooler and more capacity.

I'm always looking for ideas if it’s not too much trouble.
I really haven’t had to anything to this truck in the last couple years other than change the oil and filters and oil the undercarriage twice a year, and as I’ve done all that I have in the last month, I’m really getting into it! I always just wanted to keep it stock but with the wake up the up/down pipes and new KC turbo have given it, I am wanting more.
Install studs for the vac pump makes it much easier for removal if it fails again, IIRC the 5.4 2v exhaust manifold bolts are the correct pitch and length if you decide to go that way
could you send me an Amazon link for these? Thanks
Pretty disappointed in ProSource Diesel, my vacuum pump arrived and it is branded “Standard” made in China and what I could have gotten at my local auto parts store for $80 less.
Update: I just did the harmonic balancer and Melling LPOP, after putting it back together taking it for a drive, it developed a “ticking “ after about 5 mins. Increases in speed with rpm’s, will disappear below 1k rpm’s. I initially thought i hadn’t clipped the fan shroud in at that the blade was rubbing on it as it sounded exactly like that initially. But everything is fine there, no rubbing, no marks on the fan blades. But I noticed now that the initial “squeak “ that started this thread has stopped and has now been replaced by this sound, though I wouldn’t be able to check without someone driving me around sitting in the engine compartment. Could this be the next step in the vacuum pumps degradation? It will not make this noise when not under load no matter the rpm, and doesn’t seem to start until after being driven for a couple of minutes. I have a new, though I’m afraid , inferior vacuum pump to put in, I’m just waiting for the puller to show up from my best friend Jeff Bezos. Any thoughts?

I have been through couple vacuum pumps and they all looked the same but branded with whoever I got it from. Probably came from same source but the price varies greatly.
one of the signs I get is a squeak then turns into a constant squeak. I notice that the bearing grease will accumulate behind the pulley.
I had a vacuum pump go out on me during a camping trip. It froze and snapped the belt. Was stuck 180 miles from home. Needless to say, I keep one in the truck with a pulley puller and serpentine belt now.
Next step for me is to do away with the belt driven pump a hydro boost. Actually looking into kits and install videos currently. Was going to start a thread requesting advice on this.

I believe my obs solutions kit for that is arriving today for that specifically. Interested to see the quality

When that one upped and left, did it do so with the warning squeak beforehand?
I might order one from Napa which comes with the pulley and keep it in my truck. Its pretty insane that there are no US manufactured pumps available.
I was just looking at that yesterday, did you go all in with the electric vacuum pump option?
Yep decided F it since im going hydroboost and I already had a vac pump die on me once. I do think its expensive for what it is but will be nice to have a simplified option
