The right turn signal indicator on my 96 f250 has started turning on and staying lit when I turn on the marker/ headlights. When those are on the right turn signal doesn't work. That side will work normally when the marker lights are turned off. If I remember correctly my hazards work but the speed doesn’t seem to be right. What could be causing this?
Verify the correct bulbs are in place, and No LED's
Verify the turn signal / multi function switch is plugged in all the way
Verify none of the wires have pulled out of the connector
If all that checks out, check the integrity of the bulb sockets
If those check pout plug in a new turn signal switch
Verify no LED bulbs
I have a custom flatbed on the truck and all the lights on that are led. Im confused why only one side would be having problems if both sides have leds. This problem also started Powell over a year after replacing the bed so I have a hard time thinking it’s the leds. I’ll check the rest of the connectors again but they seemed fine when I last checked.
The reason LEDs cause problems is twofold
They do not have the required resistance to make a flasher work
And flashers work by switching power and ground (to make left and right)
The LEDs are a diode (Light Emitting Diode) Diodes do not like switched voltage
ANY turn signal problems means remove the LEDs and go from there, once the conventional bulbs fix the vehicle, then you can decide on a remedy if you still want to use the LEDs
Remedies include adding a resistor or using a flasher specifically made for LEDs
