Battery

My 2015 powerstroke battery went dead on one side, the other showed 675 cca, does one side always go dead first? Batteries were 5 years old. Should you replace both at the same time or can you replace just one?

Bart's rule. Never change only 1 battery on a diesel and never run them longer than 3 years.

most folks rotate the batteries to refresh connections.

the pax side seems to go dead first

i ran a 4 guage crossover wire from drivers side Ned batter post to pax side neg battery post.

the two batteries are normally grounded differently.

so far no problems on my 2019 with the cross over cable.

Change em both at the same time.

As far as brands, enhanced crapification is in full swing with automotive batteries unfortunately. I have a pair of cats in mine (cheapest ones I could find at the time), three years on and they are still doing well. I live in Eastern Mass so no crazy highs or lows relatively speaking.
