I’d been noticing more engine noise than I’m accustomed to, I replaced my shifter boot, which helped a bit and I thought the noise was engine noise from my leaking up pipes. I replaced those with bellowed and the noise is still there. All under hood hoses have been replaced and are tight. Perhaps I’m nuts and just realizing how loud these trucks are, but have a listen and tell me what you hear:
Hard to tell on a phone but low fuel pressure can make it louder as well. Might check it to make sure.
Point taken. Maybe I’m starting to get a restriction from the tanks (dread). I was in replacing up and down pipes and noticed the fuel pump leaking so just replaced it with an OEM lifter pump. Noise was the same as before all of the work.
almost sounds like when my HB went out
Do you have any run out on yours?
Whats you belt look like?
Pulley is tight, Belt is beginning to show wear on engine side but has been on there for a few years. Before I changed to OEM tensioner/guide wheel I was going through belts at an alarming rate .
That sounds like HB is worn, with it running, go under and put a piece of this wood next to the pulley and see if it wobbles at all.
You said “HB” and I went straight to “HydroBoost” and its pulley. You are correct, by balancer is a bit out and I have a new OEM replacement ready to go on this weekend along with the LVLP Mehling upgrade. I’ll update when the job is done. Does the fan clutch have to be removed for both of those?
I purchased a larger Gearwrench brand fan clutch kit, tired of renting also. I also own their serpent belt tool set
Today I noticed a large bicycle headset wrench welded to a piece of flat stock in my shop, I think I must have made that when I had the fan off last time. Anyway , what does that Gearwrench serpentine belt kit allow you to do that you can’t do with a 1/2” breaker bar?
