troubled idi

Purchased my 93 f350 w/7.3idi, auto trans from original owner 19 yrs ago. Has been trouble free until recently. In overdrive around 45 mph engine acted like it had a bad miss, w/170k miles figured I'd replace injector pump (rebuilt from stanadyne) Motorcraft injectors & glow plugs, fuel pump & filter. Ran normal until last week, slow down to stop and engine would cause truck to lunge forward and run as if it were loading up, had to put it in neutral to stop, then while in neutral it idled normal, put in drive idle increased without stepping on accelerator and still loading up until accelerated over 800 rpm's then ran normal. Wondering if any has had issues like this and what causes it. Thank you.

Sounds like the torque converter is failing; feeling like and engine miss part and then it isn't unlocking; the wanting to keep pushing the truck forward at idle part.

check trans fluid level first, low fluid level will keep the converter locked

Thank you, that is something I wouldn't have expected, will check the level though.

Haven't had a chance to work on it, ordered the throttle position sensor so after getting it installed I'll be able to run it and check the trans fluid level. Will sent info when complete.
