Only FORScan full version requires a laptop. FORSCan Lite can be put on your i-phone/device. ForScan Lite is fine.

My laptop should be coming in today. I have the adapter for the connector under the dash. I should have the forscan software loaded tonight.

This is the first time I have used forscan so any pointers would be welcome. I am troubleshooting a misfire of one or more of the injectors. What would I see on the froscan tool?

Scan for codes first.

I normally run custom tunes. Should put the stock tune in to check codes? Does the tune affect the forscan?

Scan it BEFORE you retune it. At least to get the codes. Pretty sure my SCT clears KAM as part of the reprogram cycle so I would lose them right?

Blade is correct to do active testing with a stock tune if possible, but IMO always scan it first in the state it's having the problem in to get a baseline.

I plugged everything in. but there seems to be no connection to the truck. I downloaded the Forscan for windows, installed it. I plugged the connector in but get nothing. Am I missing something?

You don't need a paid FORScan key to pull codes. That's only needed for some programming functions. You should be able to just plug the cable into the OBD-II port, turn vehicle key to on, check that the light on the cable turns on, press the 'Connect to Vehicle' button on the lower left, see a splash screen for your vehicle, then press the 'Read Diagnotic Troubleshooting Codes (DTC)' button on the left.

There is no smoke from the tailpipes. Could it be the FICM?

Well after putting in a new FICM I get the same diagnostic message about the FICM. So I am concluding the Forscan is showing a false fail. The #6 injector will be the next to get checked.

BTW, Does the Forscan tool have a buzz test?

The diagnostic message is from the PCM. FORScan just reports what the PCM is telling it when it pertains to codes.

A single injector code is typically not a FICM issue, but it has happened, especially on the early 7 screw FICMs that had individual drivers.
