Have a 2017 F350 DRW with 185k miles on it with the original Rancho shocks.
Mostly used pulling a 26ft work trailer. No signs of any problems but feel it's time to replace. My tire guy told me they were not available, so wanted to see what you guys replaced yours with.
Bilstein 5100's (and to get ahead of it, yes, they are for stock height trucks) or 4600's. Fox 2.0's are another choice, but they are twice the price. The Bilstein 5100's have been excellent on my truck (22 - swapped around 10k miles in). The truck is much more stable and body roll is greatly eliminated. Plenty of reports of these going over 100k+ miles with no issues.
Bilstein and don’t look back.
With the miles you have it’s gonna feel like a new truck.
5100 are valved more towards off road use and 4600 are for better road manners.
Im sure he wants to spend $1500 on shocks you have to rebuild every 2-3 years.
I currently have 87K on my Fox 2.0 without issue and a smooth ride as well, been on for 7.5 years (on and off road) and paid only $650 for all four..........but yes, they are rebuildable too
Fox 2.0 is what I chose to replace the factory Rancho-branded shocks on my F-450. If I had a F-250 or F-350 SRW truck used on the highway I would go with the Bilsteins for better handling and roll resistance. However, that's less of a concern with the width and heavy springs on the DRW trucks. Was looking for more high speed damping for abrupt hits when towing and heavy rebound damping to control the hop from the heavy rate springs. Valving style of the Fox is supposed to geared more towards what I was looking for.
