Camshaft job

I have a 6.0 that I could not really care less about long term and it’s in my way all the time. Tired of hearing how it doesn’t run but I don’t have shop space anywhere to work on it so I gotta do outside. My question is, I have a new used camshaft from KDD with gear welded on, could I install the cam without pulling the heads and only install the lifter in the front that let go ? Camshaft lobe wore down after the previous owner drove it despite hearing a very obvious knock

To replace the camshaft in the truck, you will have to remove the transmission and the rear plate. You will also have to remove the crankshaft spacer, which technically isn't supposed to be removed, but it’s been done.

To remove any of the lifters, you’ll have to pull the heads; there is no other way. At that point, with the heads off and the rear plate off, you might as well pull the branch tubes and replace all the lifters. However, this is not recommended at all. If you have a lifter that's gone bad, you’ve got particles throughout the oil system in the truck engine. The engine won’t last long under those conditions. That’s a lot of work for nothing.

And I sure hope you’re not a person who thinks you can make this into a running engine and sell it off to someone else in the manner I just described.

Lots of work to do it and it sounds like you don't really want to commit the time necessary.

Your best bet is save your time and someone else the headache....sell it as is or junk it.
