408 heads/ build

Started the assembly of the 408. First engine I have done in 40 years😳. I haven’t missed been watching lots of you tube videos and any CONSTRUCTIVE help would be appreciated. I have a set of Edelbrock heads that I have been working on that will go on it.

Looking good man! And good job on the heads - the Windsor needs all the help it can get, especially at 408C.I.

Which Edelbrock heads are you starting with??? That will make a difference.

Just for reference:
https://www.carbdford.com/tech/flowdata.htm

I had used a pair of professionally-ported iron World Windsor Seniors on my 9.4:1 emission-test-legal(!) 393W.
Then when it got rebuilt into a 11.1:1 395W, I used a set of as-cast Roush 200s and ill-port-matching BBK 1-5/8 shorty headers - Dynoed at 506hp @ 6000 with a mild hydraulic roller (.544/.544" 276/282adv, 224/230 @ .050). The as-cast Roush200s flowed less than my old iron Worlds!
I was not impressed with the Roush, so on went a pair of Fox Lake Racing CNC'd Edelbrocks and proper-port-matching 1-7/8 longtubes. Gain of almost 100hp/45tq over the Roush/BBKs!!!!

I am starting my 408 build this week too. I suspect I will not be done for a few months.

I elected to go with 185 AFR Renegades. I drilled the head to accept the wider 3" bolt spacing. I am also building long tube headers.

I elected to go with Mahle forged pistons and should end up with about 9 to 1 compression. I am running a Kenne Bell supercharger and should keep the 8psi I have now [on my 351w]. Custom roller cam and a factory roller block.

My purpose is for towing, what is your goal?
