Stupid Dipstick question

I am building a 408. My current engine [351w] and the 408 has the hole for the dipstick on the drivers side.

It was decades ago that I put in some Gibson shorty headers. The dipstick goes between the header tubes and I believe I pulled out the tube so I could install the header. I believe it has a press fit, but it's not now. I use sealer but it never keeps all the oil in. Some seeps past the tube.

Are there any other ideas for a dipstick tube location? I know there is a front tube on some older 351w and some that are in the pan. I am hoping that I will never have to remove this tube once the engine is installed, but does someone make a detachable tube that seals? Modify the tube hole [screw in tube]?

I just have not come up with an idea that I can easily remove the tube and have it seal 100%.

Mine had a rubber o-ring, so I put sealant on it and stuffed it back in, hasn't leaked THERE! in 4-5yrs

I thought about putting an O ring on it, but the step flange is not very thick. The tube can easily fit the hole. I swear I thought it was a slight press fit, when I originally took it out. Too long ago to know for certain.

Using a screw in flexible oil dipstick might be the best route with headers. There are several to choose from on Summit. A new stock style may fit the hole okay, but you will have to tweak it to go around your headers and then make it bolt up.

I am thinking something like that, which is why I am asking.

I've looked at Summit and they list a lot that go to the pan and the front cover, but one to the block and that is for a 302, so I suspect it might be a bit too short.
