What's She Worth?

Going tomorrow to look at a '19 Platinum. She's a crew cab, FX4, 6.7, partial diet plan truck. Pearl white color with a spray-in. From the pictures the truck looks immaculate. The drawbacks are that it has 205k miles, no oil change records, and it's a long bed. Also, there are lights on the dash. One looks like a steering wheel with an ! symbol next to it and the other is the ABS light.

What's a fair ballpark value for this truck? I've never had a trim level that high so I'm not sure how expensive it'll be to fix those warning lights.

Really? So it's not worth pissing on if it catches fire?

They're asking $35k.

Start with a KBB value in your zip code, this will give you an idea of where to start.

Short of seeing what the baseline of possible vehicle worth from KBB or something like that it comes down to what you're willing to lose. "Or" atleast have to pay for an engine or transmission if it went south.

Unless a vehicle is a steal, used vehicles are someone else's headache they're getting rid of whether experiencing gremlins at present or the possible gremlins so many fear after a warranty has expired/ vehicle with mileage.

There’s a member on FTE asked the same question about a 2017 Lariat ultimate diesel deleted with 255k. Looked like a clean stock truck. He advertised it for $27k I believe and drew quick interest.

If you’re good at tracing wires you might fix those problems yourself. Or it could be a dealer shop money pit. Their asking price seems reasonable other than the issues.

If they fix the check light issues, $25-32k is my guess.

I would give $2500 for it site unseen. $25000; have to look harder at it.

I just realized Pb said 2500 - 3000; I was saying $25,000 - $30,000, so there may be room to "negotiate" if asking $35K. The big red flag are the issues mentioned; if they were "small" issues, they'd probably fix them before listing, so something to think about.

well, bro, the steering wheel light is probably at least $4k to repair. Mine goes in next week to the dealership. I will update the cost. Not good.

Yeah I think the upper trims had that fancy motorized steering wheel system didn't they? I bet that's what the fault is for.

I looked at the truck in person today. It looks VERY nice. Body is great, paint is great, even the tailgate is great condition which is rare for used HD trucks. Interior is great too. But, a previous owner put wide stance wheels on it which I would want to replace ASAP, and the steering wheel/system fault scares me a little. Plus, with 205k on the clock I won't be able to buy an extended warranty with it. So I think I will pass and keep looking.

Smart call, "simple" fixes not done by the PO prior to a sale are never a good sign.

Didn't you recently get a lightning? Is this truck to replace that or in addition to it? I only ask cause for me personally if this is a secondary vehicle I would be willing to tolerate more miles or more of a project than if it was my daily.
