I noticed my 2007 F350 6.0 truck started running a little rough a couple times then it got really rough, losing power and eventually died. When I tried to restart, the engine turned over at normal speed and had a couple weak attempts to fire but wouldn’t start. After sitting a couple minutes, I put the key in start mode, so the electric fuel pump was on for a short time, and it fired up and went about a mile and ran out of power and died. Then same thing, it wouldn’t start but after waiting a couple minutes I put the key on to activate the electric pump and it started, then died in about a mile. I made it home and checked the OBD codes. The engine is all stock and I haven’t done anything to it recently.
There are 2 previous OBD codes that I haven’t dealt with yet, P0460 fuel sensor has been on for a while and shouldn't cause this and P0674 glow plug heater but shouldn't cause this. It says 1 Inc EGR and 2 Ready Misfire and Comp. Before the misfire started, I noticed under the hood there is a Diesel smell and some Diesel spray on top of the engine and the underside of the hood. It burns some oil but is full. Lately the coolant level has been going down.
The first thing that came to mind is either there is something plugging the fuel line or the mechanical fuel pump is dying.
Lots of thoughts. Get the fuel spray taken care of first. Check the filter housing, the fuel pressure regulator area, and the banjo bolts on all the fuel lines from the filter assy to the heads. Once that is taken care of you need to get a decent live data reader like FORScan. After that, head over to the 6.0 section of the forum for everything you need to know about your 6.0.
