Hello, from southeast Ohio. Have a 65 f100 that I have been working on for several years. I am going to look at the truck that Appalachia posted about back some time. I would like to speak to TA455HO about what he has found about this truck. The 65 I have is a North Carolina truck that was pretty decent, just rust in usual places. If TA455HO happens to see this I would love to hear from him. I will share some pics of my truck soon. Thanks.

I copied that name Appalachia that you mentioned and pasted it into a Username search and while there is an Appalachian and three variations of that there is no name just like you specify so right now, I have to plead ignorance as I don't know who you are talking about. If you narrow it down to a different name I can try again if you like. Or get a picture of the warranty plate on the back edge of the driver's door and I can decode what it says if you post that.
Hello and thanks! The user was appalacia 1965 I misspelled his user name. I believe the truck went to Cleveland when new by what you decoded for him, just curious about a couple other details he told me on the phone. Merry Christmas and thanks for getting back to me. I am going to look at the truck Saturday. Thanks!

BUCKET SEAT CONSOLE - that says it was a Ranger even though the code D81 isn't considered a Ranger - it was before they started using the F, G and H81 designations.
Thanks @TA455HO i would like to have a conversation with you about this truck if possible. I’m not sure how to do this as I cannot private message you.
For what it is worth, information was a bit slow coming with regard to this truck. There was some suggestion that the owner, would separate those parts that made it somewhat special as a likely original early "Ranger". Chad is definitely the right person to speak to about ensuring that the truck you will hopefully buy, is correct. The rest of us will be glad to see the truck go so someone likely to save it. Good luck and hope you get all the answers you need to make an informed decision going forward.
Thank you. In speaking to the owner, I do have questions, it was delivered to the Cleveland DSO in primer? I love these trucks and would love to see this one saved, but I’m 60 now, finishing up the first 65 for my son, with a 66 Fairlane that was my high school and first car waiting for my attention. I’m hoping to make it long enough to get that finished, but wow have I slowed down. Not near what I used to be able to accomplish.
This truck shows no color code which means it was painted a non-standard color - something not available on the trucks in that year as one of the factory choices. Look around the outside edges of the warranty plate. In the pictures it appears the warranty plate was probably installed after paint but still looks to have its original rivets. If so, that paint around the edges of the plate was likely the color Ford painted it back in the day.
Looking up under the dash can also provide some hints unless they were very thorough about the black repaint. Black is color code A so it's fairly certain it was not originally black since it was a standard truck color.
