Appears Ford was still classifying bucket seat pickups with the DSO XL option in Nov. '64, which would mean it came with twin I beam emblem inserts originally.

No deal yet

Well I looked at the truck today. The truck was definitely honey gold. The cab floor is pretty bad. Cab mounts are pretty bad. Console is nice, and latch works. Owners card was a plus. It would definitely take work.

I guess it all depends on your skills and budget. The fact that it is a late "XL" or an early "Ranger" makes it a rare breed for sure, and add the short wheelbase, unique color, and low diff gearing, someone likely ordered this truck who knew exactly what they wanted, which I would think makes it even cooler.

For what it is worth, I fell into my "Ranger" without truly knowing how few there are left (let alone how few there were originally) and while my truck needs work, and is already not fully original (later replacement FE with a C6 trans), I intend to aim for somewhat original when I finally get started. Truth is, few of these trucks seem to bring the silly numbers that the later bump sides and or dent sides bring, so whatever you invest in both time and money, has to be done realistically and more for yourself than with the thought of a big payday later. But that said, I enjoyed my truck far more than I thought I would and at least at this time, wouldn't trade it for almost anything (life does happen so I try to be realistic).

For my two cents worth, which has no value, other than enthusiastic opinion, this truck is worth saving, and I hope you or someone will retrieve it and do just that...keep it original-ish...maybe make a few subtle period correct upgrades if you wish, and enjoy. I promise, the conversations you will engage in, the fun (hopefully) and smiles per mile, will make it worth it.

Good luck and keep us posted!!

No truck

I passed on this truck. Unfortunately it is more work than I want. I too hope someone gets it who can save it. Very cool piece, but my budget would not allow me to do it properly. Thanks to all who responded and all the encouragement. I will post some pictures of the 65 that I am currently working on. Regards
Darin
