Quick (Dumb) Question:
Where can I get the good quality spray cans of Ford Blue paint?
I've got a really nice Edelbrock Performer Intake on the way (used - but in very good condition).
I know lotsa people like to leave them un-painted.
But, I want to paint it, and have it match the rest of the engine.
But, I'll have shiny silver valve covers!
Also - there seems to be a few variations on the Ford Blue.
I want the real one......that'll make my truck go fast!
I believe the original engine paint color during the bumpside era was called Ford Corporate Blue. Here is an article that talks about some of the different shades of Ford Blue that are available at auto part stores. Rattle Can Ford Blue Engine Paint ????? - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
Original paint valve cover for a '72 360. Decals were color coded according to month, this yellow, notice the date stamping on cover near back pvc gromment, something you would never notice unless up close. There is a D after the 2, but is very faint. Appears Ford was one step ahead of the fraudsters even back then.

What decal are you saying is color coded to a month ? 3 8 2D is a date code March 8th I would guess if this was from an original engine the truck build date would be late March to the first week of April the valve covers only had month and day and no year 2D was the stamping plant.
