Man, these days, it really is a crap shoot. As many as I have replaced over the years, I cannot name a brand I have not ever had a problem with except Motorcraft, and you can't get those anymore AFAIK.
I would say try Spectra Premium or Delphi, at least those are names I recognize, not GOOLOO or whatever Chinese names they give that junk.
I bought the truck 9 years ago with 58,000 miles on it, mostly lived in Utah. The rear pump was dead, with half a tank of probably years old gas.
At the time I bought NOS Motorcraft front and rear FDM's ,dropped the rear tank and replaced that one. My plan was to do a driver restoration when i have the time.
I have the time now(finally) so I pulled the bed and am replacing the tanks, and painting the frame. from cab back, which of course involves pulling exhaust, wiring harnesses and fuel lines. and refurbishing all of that. I wish there was more quality stuff out there for these trucks. I was trying to source OEM style replacement fuel lines. A ya, no. Saw a set on E-Bay, pulled from a 92 with 240,000 miles on it for $450.Really? Guess I'll reuse them for now. I was considering spectra , I 'm using their tanks, they look good. Delphi was on the list too.
thanks for the replies
I just use Ford pumps out of pump module assemblies I have, or can get
You can still find OEM Ford Taurus fuel pumps on Ebay
I have a few kicking around for Contours and Taurus
I take the fuel pumps out of those modules and put them in my trucks (when I want one to last more than 6 months)
So I decided to go with Spectra tanks and FDM's. No problem installing the rear tank and pump. The front pump doesn't fit. I took photos and sent to Spectra tech support. They said return it and order a new one, haven't had any problems with them. but they would look into it.
Got the new pump, worse than the first one. The angles and orientation on the top plate are off. Sent more photos, waiting for a response. second Spectra pump. Not even close second Spectra pump OEM pump first Spectra pump. Lock ring wouldn't fit without removing strainer, sender float hits side of tank.
