I was just about to post that! As it shows though, the only one that comes standard with dual alternators is the Limited. But, you can get them on any model with the right packages. I added up fitters and snow plow to my 250 so I got the 332A dual alternators. Ones a 175A and the other is a 157A.
So if you don’t have one of those options it would come with two batteries but one alternator?
That's correct. The XL comes standard with a single 175A alternator, the XLT, Lariat, KR, and Platinum come standard with a single 240A alternator and the Limited comes standard with the 332A dual alternators. As mentioned, rapid heat will automatically bump you up to the 397A dual alternators on all trims, but you do have to add rapid heat as an option (which isn't a bad thing if you live in a cold climate). Once you add up fitter switches and snow plow you will automatically bump up to the 332A dual alternator on all trims except the XL.
All diesels do automatically come with dual batteries.
The 332 amp alternator used on the Limited is a single unit. It is not achieved using two alternators.
The alternators used in the dual config are a 240 amp unit and a 157 amp unit.
All diesels with Rapid Heat get two alternators.
I can't confirm, but that would seem odd that they would have a 332A single alternator, and use it on some, and the dual combo 332A alternators on others... I have the 332A option on my XLT and there are definitely 2 alternators under my hood. Ones 175A and the others 157A. I agree though, if you get the 397A alternators, then that is the 240A and the 157A.
Can't say how you got a unicorn truck but if you go to the build site there is only one dual alternator option - the 240 amp & 157 amp units. Yours should be the 397 amp if it is a dual unit.
The 332 amp unit is listed as a single alternator. Those are the only options on the site now, other than smaller single units for the 6.2L trucks.

Perhaps, but I doubt that too. Just for the record, you can see both alternators in my photo, and you can see on my window sticker that I have the 332A alternators. Saying that, I haven't actually pulled them out and checked them... however, until your comments, everything I have read in the past stated that the 332A and 397A alternators were both dual alternators, with the 332A being the 157A and the 175A combo and the 397A being the 240A and the 157A combo. This was confirmed when I picked up my own truck... I'd say that you can't trust the descriptions on Fords build site... it wouldn't be the first time that it hasn't been right... However, if you can prove me wrong then that would be a win for me since I would have the 397A alternators instead!
Weird. On all the trucks I looked at when I was looking to buy, when they had dual alternators it was listed as dual extra heavy duty. I love the "No Charge" next to it.
Here's my window sticker.
I guess it shouldn't be a surprise when the parts guy tilts his head and says he isn't sure, huh ? :-)
Ok, so according to the 2022 Spec Guide, the 332A alternator is listed as the "(combined) Dual Heavy Duty Alternator (67A)" and the 397A alternator is listed as the "(combined) Dual Extra Heavy Duty Alternator (67B)." FWIW, both the 2020 and the 2021 are listed the same way. So, the 332A and the 397A alternators are both intentionally dual alternators. As usual, it's just that they list things differently in different places. They listed your 397A alternator the same on your window sticker, however, they listed my 332A alternator on my window sticker as simply that, instead of "Dual Heavy Duty Alternator."
On the previous gen trucks, such as my '19, I thought upfitter switches, or even just a trim or option package with the 110v outlets triggered the requirement for dual alternators. But looking back at various window stickers from my search for a truck(all diesel and all Lariat) I now see they either simply say "extra heavy duty alternator" "no charge", or others, including mine say "dual extra heavy duty altrntr" $115.
No amps shown, some had no upfitter switches, all had the 110v outlets, they still said "extra heavy duty alternator"- no charge. Now I'm wondering if that was dual, but of the lower amp output, whereas "dual extra heavy duty..." is how they referred to the max amp output duals.
The order guide back then included the word "dual" with the 332 amp alternator(s).
