Spin On Oil Filter Adapter 1960 F-100 223-6

Hi All:

I have a 1960 F-100 with a 223-6. I had a spin on oil filter adapter that was working fine for a few years. It started leaking so I bought another one from Dennis Carpenter, thinking the seal was going. After following the directions, aligning the gasket and “Top” to the top, with hole at top and torquing the bolt to 25 lb/ft… I started the truck and oil drizzled out. I took it off, aligned everything, put it back on, and it did the same thing. I put the old one on and it dripped about a drop every 10 seconds. No good. I’m running out of options. What do you suggest? Has anyone installed a spin on oil filter adapter successfully? What did you do? RTV? Crush washer? Thank you in advance.

Unless the KIT is GENUINE FORD, it is off-shore junk. The plate warps very easily.

You may still find NOS (B7A 6882-A) on EvilBay.

Also use a quality (FEL-PRO) mounting gasket.

So much stuff looks decent until you get your hands on it.

That’s great info. I’ll take the adapter plate off (again) tomorrow and measure it and tap to the 1/16” clearance. My new plate undoubtedly was “offshore” with a chinsy rubber gasket. My old one looked better and will be the one I work with. I’m hoping I didn’t deform my Chinese rubber gasket. I couldn’t find a fel-pro gasket online. Any part numbers that you happen to know?

Thanks.

You can still but the gasket (EAA 6838-A) from a FORD (NEW HOLLAND) TRACTOR dealer. FEL-PRO must have dropped theirs as I cannot find it separately.
