I have a MHP grill that is over 5 years old and it still looks and cooks like new! It is cast aluminum and 302 stainless steel, it is made here in the US. It is not cheap but it is the best quality grill that I have ever had and I have replaced multiple charbroil, weber etc. over the years and none of them looked very good after 3-4 years even when covered.
Tremor with Chrome package as well as power steps in the Lariat Ultimate package. Good look, too!
I'm not a fan of chrome on modern vehicles. I don't mind it so much as an accent on black vehicles, but the size of the Super Duty grill translates to a mirror like wall of chrome and I just can't stand that.

But it is definitely different from cooking on a grill with grates. There is no place for grease to drain away, so it sits with the food while cooking. I typically let it cook in the grease until close to time to take it off, then move the food to a different area that isn't as greasy, and then push all the grease into the drain. With my 22' BS and the lid, the whole cooking surface heats up. Sure, the very corners can be a little cooler than the center but not by much. It's still completely useable and I also use the slight temp differences to my advantage when cooking. I understand what you mean about the charcoal char though... that is something I do miss... but I have gotten so used to cooking on the BS and it does such a good job, I am ok without the char. Saying that, I do get a great char on my steaks when cooking them though!
I will say that the regulator that comes with them that connects directly to a propane tank are junk... they all are. I actually have mine plugged into my campers QD so I don't have to use it and it works great. Other than that though, I would quickly replace mine with another if necessary!
The regulator could be the problem. A friend of mine uses a QD connector to a natural gas line and his worked fine in the cold and gets super hot.
It's a $600 grill that's built like a $200 grill. It's burners have been massively unreliable. I have one that worked one day this last year and one that works only about 70% of the time. The other two aren't 100% either. In the winter time, even on high mine doesn't get warm enough to cook anything even with three out of four burners working. Also, mine won't get hot enough to use with all four burners if I don't use the lid and close it. Of course, the manual tells you not to cook with it that way. It's the only way I've ever been able to get it to get hot enough to do anything.
One major contributor to this may be the fact that its super windy in my back yard almost all the time. But I can't help but feel as though I wouldn't have these issues with a conventional grill. I also miss the char I can get on steaks and other things. It seems like items like burgers and what not are always greasier than they are on conventional grills. Really the only things I like cooking on it are burgers and bacon, when mine gets hot enough to do so. I used to grill a lot. Sometimes more than once in a day and often 5 or 6 times a week (and more occasionally.) I used previous grills to cook a lot of my meals. I've worn out a lot of grills over the years. I've had some which were better than others. Between my burner problems and dealing with the surface of the Blackstone, I hate it. It's the worst grill I've ever owned. I absolutely would not buy another.
I know a lot of people love their Blackstone's including two friends of mine. But I can't stand it. I'm eyeing a Weber Genesis that has a Blackstone type top that's so much nicer. I may try that instead.
Wind and a griddle are not friends. Perhaps build a wind break around yours or move it to a less windy area if possible?
I have had at least one for 5+ years, I truly don't recall how long I've had it. I have had absolutely zero issues. Burners work 100% of the time, always close the lid when heating/cooking to reduce splatter from grease/oils. If anything our 22" travel one is harder to maintain because it just doesn't get used as much.
That said, it is not used in winter at all. It stays on the deck under a cover next to the smoker. Living right on a massive body of water, it's too cold/windy to stand out there at it.

I'm loving how this turned into two posts. As far as a Blackstone goes I purchased the magnetic wind deflectors for my two burner blackstone, works fantastic!
As far as the Truck grill goes, you can get the Tremor without the black appearance package. I decided against both only because I want it to fit in my 7' high garage door and found much better looking wheels than what Ford offers (come on Ford, it's been this way forever). So there are a few black grills to swap into, I was just looking for a recommendation or maybe a non ford product.

Have you thought about using some plasti dip on it? I sprayed my 2019 Power Wagon with it. Held up great! That thing went through about 1,000 car washes and never had one issue.

Sadly, that's a no go. My entire back yard is windy all the time. There is nothing around me to break up the wind.

Grilling is my favorite way to cook meats. If the weather isn't bad, I'd do it on most days. Sadly, with the Blackstone I can't use it outside of ideal weather conditions.
Back to the Truck Grill, can I assume a 2024 grill will interchange with 2026 ?
I can't personally confirm, but I can say this: from a distance, my FIL's '23 grill (XLT BAP) looks like my '25 grill (Lariat BAP), but when you get up close they appear to be ever so slightly different.
Hopefully someone can chime in to confirm whether or not they interchange.
