I have a 75 standard cab. Before I removed the hinge from the body, I scribed around it with an awl. Since I painted the area with Por-15, I can't find the marks. Is there an easy way to find the location for the hinge?
Thanks.
Guessing door hinge? I don't think that is going to help him at this point, but yes, for future reference drill two small holes through the hinge and the cab at opposite corners before removing. That way you can put pins through the holes before you bolt the hinge back up. It will go back together perfectly.
With the situation you have I don't see any other way to get the door to line up other than trial and error. Another member can give you measurements of exactly where his is but there is a 97.3% chance you will still be making significant adjustments. Bolt the hinge up loosely to the cab and get a helper as you slowly snug up the bolts and even more slowly close the door. It is going to take a while and a lot of loosening/adjusting/tightening cycles but you will get it if you're patient.
If it's a hood hinge things get a bit easier.

If you scribed it, then POR15 'ed it, you are back to square one on installing a door. Get some free wooden paint sticks or house door install shims and have at it. Start with sort of loose bolts, shim the best you can to get the body line "dents" to line up.
