Hi I have a 82 f100 302 v8 and I need to know what part of the harness this is or what this is in general but it got red hot and start burning made the cab smokey i need to replace asap any help is appreciated
That is C306. It has the wiring that goes down along the frame under the truck. It has wires to the transmission and the rear lighting.
DaveF is right 1 side of the plug is the trucks main harness and the other the frame rail harness.
If you have auto transmission it would have the NSS wires, power wire for backup lights for either transmission, fuel tank sender(s) and power wire(s) for the valve, and tail lights.
Being it let out the magic smoke I would be checking EVERYTHING over really really good for melted wires both on the rail harness and inside the truck.
Did you check all the fuses as a fuse should have blown as I am sure everything at that plug would be protected from the factory.
I had the power wire to the tank switching valve short to ground and it blew the fuse and the only way I knew was the fuel level was not dropping on the tank I was using.
Does the truck have trailer lights? A lot of times this wiring becomes a mess and shorts out but again should blow a fuse for the rear lights.
NSS should only have power with key to start if auto, nothing for manual transmission trucks.
Even the back up light power wire is fused. So dont know what could have caused the smoke but you need to check it over good.

I bet you blew the fuse for turn sig / stop lights and why no more magic smoke comes out.
Be careful if you let too much smoke out we may have to bring marshmallows

Thank you for every ones input I have mentioned in other posts I bought this truck as a project/learning experience to teach myself how to work on my own vehicles and to use on bad winter days where my mustangwould do poorly. That being said I will eventually get to redoing the harness on it and that'll be an undertaking for me, bright side its a older vehicle shouldn't be as complicated as a newer vehicle. I still have my yellow light just no signal or hazard.
Strange im running across this becouse I just noticed a burned out wire in the same connector on my 81. Strange thing is everything is working. I havent dug into it yet to see what my issue is.

That yellow light would be known as a parking or running light and come on when you turn on the parking or head lights.
It is law that a car or truck have lights at the outer most part of the body so people know where the car / truck ends. When heading to someone and there is only 1 light, head light burned out people would not know to go left or right of the light.

Like Onyx above I would like to know what wire it was that heated / smoked as I cant think of any that are not on a fuse going through that rounded plug?

For you younger guys, Yellow bulbs for blinkers may have two elements one for the running light, one for the blinker, Seem to recall, 1157 is the bulb number, they make them in clear and amber...?
