What are the spring codes on the door post sticker? What are the decodes and how many different codes are there? I am interested in 03s. I do not have the plow pkg to my knowledge, however, my front end is a little higher than my tail. Thanks..
P is 6830 lbs, sorry the rear are in another section. I had FP, 3800 front/6830 rear. Now I have a V10 front coils (G). Look on your tag at the section on the right side that looks like:
F297
T842
This tells you the reserve weight for accessories. F is FRONT T is TOTAL. I can had 297lbs of "equipment" to the front axle. (winch, push bar water pump etc...) What does yours say?

Yes, my 1999 4WD had about the same. A lot of reserve weight is taken up by your extra stuff like transfer case and all that+. So if you were to put a 130lbs winch, in theory, your truck would ride lower. (Probably not by much.) If you stand on the bumper does the truck go down any? My truck doesn't move any but I don't weigh anywhere near 297lbs.
Maximum Allowable Weight (RPO & Aftermarket Equipment)
Less Actual Regular Production Option Content Weight
(from Line A, Payload/GVWR Worksheet)
Equals TOTAL ACCESSORY RESERVE CAPACITY
(The maximum weight that may be added to the Ford completed
vehicle must be less than this figure. This Accessory Reserve
Capacity calculation approximates the figure which will be
computer-printed on the Safety Compliance Certification Label
located on the driver's door latch post)
Not very helpful but I guess those numbers are more for legality than anything else.
Never stood on the front but I do recall when I first got the truck, that I stood on the rear and it went down a bit, felt kind of like my F150. I weigh about 225+.
So what does that mean in reality? That if I were to install a brush guard type of thing that weighed over 21 lbs, I would be overloading the front axle? Voided warranty and all that? I guess I am having a hard time understanding the meaning. Total = 842. Where? If you can only have 21 on the front, that means 821 rear?
from what I understand of this paragraph, if you took your truck and filled it with all fluids and 3380 lbs of payload, 3 passengers, and 21 lbs of extra equipment, your truck would weigh 8800lbs and still be within the "legal" limit set on your sticker. (8800 lbs for F250 reg cab 4x2.)Now if you wanted to add a ranch-hand bumper that weighs 310 lbs or about 280 lbs more than the stock bumper, to reach the 8800 lbs certification limit on your truck, you would have to pull 280-21 = 259 lbs out of somewhere to still be legal. For example I would throw my wife out 120lbs + her stupid sister 139lbs and benefit of a 1) a quieter ride and 2) a legally loaded truck albeit at its limit. (or you could reduce your payload from 3380 to 3121 lbs. (I think)
Well, I guess I am in luck. My wife weighs 118 and only has a stupid brother. I get it, I think. I was breaking the weights up per axle. So I can go ahead and hook that cow catcher on the front end and be okay, as long as I can steer, stop and not go over the total weight.
I watched Ranch-Hand install the front-end replacement bumper on my old truck (4WD) and if the suspension went down at all, it probably went down by 1/8" at most so your'e probably pretty safe. I guess the reason why the reserve is so low in the front is that the front axle has to support the weight of the engine, the cab/passengers and running gear and maybe 1/4 of the payload in the bed. That's a lot of stuff. Your Dana 60 can do about 5200 lbs max. while the Ford 10.5 in the back can do 6830 lbs.
