New guy from CA

Hello everyone,

My name is Owen Jr., and I am a new member from California seeking some advice.

Following a minor motorcycle accident on November 9th (fortunately, the bike is fine and my injuries are minor), I've faced constant pressure from others to sell both my motorcycle and my '71 Super Beetle project car to purchase an SUV or a truck. While I am open to the idea of a larger vehicle, I am less enthused by their suggestions of a Hyundai Santa Fe or Honda CRV.

In the past, I drove a Ford F-150 and a Ford Explorer as work vehicles. Both were very durable and aged exceptionally well (the F-150 reached 190,000 miles, and the Explorer reached 140,000 miles).

Considering my positive experience with Ford trucks, I am leaning toward purchasing an F-250. I anticipate I will be browsing that specific section of the forum frequently for research.

Thank you for any insights you can provide.

Owen Jr.

I've spent a good deal of time on two wheels. You'll definitely be safer from others in something . . . ummm . . . safer from others. I still have my bike, and it is patiently awaiting restoration, but I wouldn't generally ride it on the roads today. Too much energy out there with stacks if giant cars greatly focused on many things often including driving.

An F-250 might be more than you might want, unless you intend to tow or carry lots of weight. An F-150 would likely suit your needs and get better fuel economy along the way.

I've always wanted to get into the Beetle world, it just never became an opportunity. Maybe someday I can snag a fun project beetle . . . once many of my other projects are more complete!

Welcome aboard!
