chevy lights
And, why are the 99' chevies so cheap? I'm almost considering buying one considering they average about 5 grand less than a ford in truck trader, with extended cab, leather, 4x4 lol?
Has GM gotten rid of that "One side of the box at the rear, higher than the other",problem yet?
Or the taillight on one side that goes bright when the other side dims or goes out when the brakes are applied.
To me that's even more intrigueing.

I had a tally going on this one to see which side was more prone to being out. I lost count at 1 for the passenger side and 6 for the drivers side. This was all probably within a couple of days. I just got tired of looking at those things after that.

Remember, you get what you pay for. Maybe you should check out the Michael Moore film/documentry "Roger and Me". Then you will understand why GM vehicles are cheap.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen one taillight, one brake light, the taillight go out when the brake light comes on, one headlight, backup-light come on when the brakes are applied, etc, all from GM's. Maybe instead of annual safety inspections in Texas, we should have all GM products tested quarterly! Now here I go being one of the LIBERALS I just complained about.
Seriously, I don't understand why after 50 years GM can't fix their lighting problems.

>fix their lighting problems.
Likewise, I don't understand why they can't fix their styling problems. Seems their pickups went from better to worse in styling over the past 70 or so years, with the 90s being the worst (it's like no styling--dull and boring). The 03 pickup is the worse yet as they adapted the Avalanche front end styling to their pickup. And that silly horizontal bar cutting all the way across and splitting the front end of all Ch**y trucks has got to go. Compare a Ch**y and a GMC pickup and you will see that the front of the GMC looks 10 times better. Ya know, I think it would be fun to have a Ch**y pickup for a little while--just long enough to run it into the ground!
I am also a member of a Chevy group and they have been dealing with this problem in several ways, but in general the Chevy wiring harness is the bare minimum to handle the current wattage levels of the stock lights. almost every who goes through the trouble, gets a heavier custom made harness and higher wattage bulbs. So go even as far as to retro fit European spec GM lights.
As far as burning out the DRLs, don't know, never owned a car with DRLs. I have not burned out any bulbs on my SS with 75K on the clock.
