That's a great shot of it, Max, and thanks again for going to all that trouble. There definitely is a port cast into the body in that location, but it doesn't go right through and it's not threaded. I guess our engineers over here decided not to bother with that particular EEC input?
Those links don't seem to work for me, Max...I just end up back here again. Probably something connected with my firewall, maybe. That's cool though...I'll just wire the sensor back into its circuit and leave it lying there where it always was.
I've never had good economy, Dave: four kilometers to the litre at best. I figure fitting bigger tires gets you an overdrive...but then there's the increased rolling resistance of the larger tire, of course. Maybe you're right. I'll check it out if I can.

I do not know about not being threaded, but the sensor location will not go through anywhere. It just mounts in the engine and listens for spark knock.
I did manage this time to get through to the new forum, Max, and all the comments there are helpful all right, but I can't yet figure out how to post there. It seems I once started an account there, but can't remember the password, and as my email address has changed since, the "reset password" isn't working. Sorry to be a pain...I'll sort it out as soon as I can.

I would think you could reach out to Gray Lewis as that's his site and he's in that thread, I'm sure he would help you. That site had lots of great info up top on the tool bar.
Hi, fellas. Tried the email thing, but I suspect it never got through to Gary, as the system asked for verification via my email, but nothing appeared there, even though I'm on their world map of members (Kevin Elvey). Ah well. I'm not fussed.
I get all the help I need from you fellows, and thanks very much for that.

At the bottom of the main page there is "contact us" and it brings up a text box.
I did not try and fill in anything but I dont see why it will not work if you send them your used name and new email address for a password rest.
Good luck

My 86 Ford 5.0 EFI OD manual transmission truck did not have a knock sensor in it when I got it, and replacements that fit are not available (just learned that the ‘87 knock sensor can be adapted with a thread adapter apparently, something to consider). Seems to run ok without it, at least I don’t hear any pinging.

I'm wondering it the thread adapter moves the sensor out, further away and the knock is somehow changed...if that's somehow an issue... I'm also trying to learn, just in case.
If yours runs fine without... I wouldn't fix what isn't broke... ?
