I recently had to replace my starter on my 7.3idi, and I went to a gear reduction one from oreilly’s (P/N R812323). With the excess cranking from the poor starter beforehand, it fried my alternator. Replaced it and jumped it, still wasn’t charging. Checked regulator by unplugging and jumping F and A terminals in the plug, and it still isn’t charging.
what should I check next? Both the alternator and regulator are new. Could it just be a poor connection from the alternator to the batteries? Or could it be something different?
Also, I replaced the starter solenoid right behind the battery at the same time I was replacing the starter. Could I have simply misplaced a wire to the wrong stud when installing the new one?
I will add a photo of the new solenoid with wires hooked up later this evening so yall can see if any are hooked up wrong.
EDIT:
Figured it out. I had the fusible link wire going to the battery lug on the alternator on the wrong side. Guess I should pay more attention to wire locations in the future when I take stuff off lol

Anymore when it comes to wiring I ALWAYS take a picture before disconnecting a bunch of wires because there will always be that one wire that you can't quite be sure where it went.

That's one of the best features of a smart phone! Can take a picture, even in the dark, and instantly be able to reference it. Great for wiring, brakes, basically anything you have to disassemble. Alot faster and more reliable than trying to draw a picture.
