Thanks again to all that replied. The most common response was to tighten the pitman arm nut. So I was able to move it about a 1/3 of a turn. Drives a little better. Probably can live with it now. BTW, the nut on my truck was a 1 5/16" so I returned the 46mm wrench. Had to use a cheater bar to make it turn. (18" pipe wrench with a 2ft iron pipe). May try to tighten a little more later on. Thanks again to all.
Good to hear! Yep, gettin old ain't for p****'s as granpa used to say.
I use a 2-3' cheater bar also, and I give it almost all I got, getting 1/3 of a turn is good, you can probably get another grunt or 2 on it and maybe another 1/4 - 1/3 more turn on it and you will be pleased with it, I forget the specs, but IIRC it's upwards of 200#' and laying on your side, underneath it, it's even harder to get a full pull on it, so use more leverage like you did, smarter not harder, pretty sure you're not going to be able to over-tighten it, I'm 57 with 3 shoulder surgeries now, and I have yet to break one or over tighten it. I bought an 1-5/16" wrench and a socket, and I have a cheater bar that fits over my breaker bar I use, like I said, I now check mine about every 3rd oil change, or when I think of it, and I give it a good 3 or 4 grunts each time, and no wander.
I understand but I'm 67 yrs old and have arthritis so you do what you have to, lol.
