I have been told that the best thing to do when you have a soft top is lock everything in a tuffy-type console (i.e.-> One that isnt plastic and actually locks) and then leave your doors unlocked.
My buddy's jeep window got slit and he lost all his CDs too. I wouuld rather just loose the CDs personally. And if they are locked in a tuffy console then they cant even really get that.
Yup, either lock it in a tuffy type box or take it with you. I always leave my doors unlocked even though I have nothing worth stealing in the truck. That way if anyone is curious they can just pop the door open and look around to see I haven't got anything in there, rather than cut up my $500 soft top. By the way, you will love the soft top. One of the best things I've done!
yea, good call. i have a soft top also, dont leave anything of value in the truck and leave your doors open. what kind of soft tops you guys have, i have a slant back w/ snaps along the back of the truck. any company's still make the straight back style with the windows on the side?
Sure do. STC (Specialty Top Company) in Denver makes them. I bought one from them about 7 or 8 months ago. Best money I've spent. I've got one pic of it in my gallery. Not a good pic, but you get the idea....
i had the top made custom and yes i had to have the fabracatot drill into the body. but i've had the top 3 years and it still keeps the water out even when doing about 70 in a thunderstorm. and it looks great.
I got a Specalty Top Company softie for my 95. i think the hard top looks better than the soft top when its all closed up. But as soon as you roll the windows up like a bikini top, or just plain put the top down, ITS AWSOME. Topless is the best.
for theft reductions, i think your outa luck. all the ones i have ever seen for Broncos, have had snaps on the oustside. tuff to luck those. i like mine because i have snap rails that mount to my bed rails opposed to haveing to install snaps on my body.
Where did you get the snap rails? Or were those custom fabbed?
That is my main worry about a soft top. I am not a fan of drillin into the body. I know people say its no big deal but I just dont like the idea of it.
Specialty Top was formerly Kayline but they are operational. These are the 3 main makers of Bronco soft tops. There are some custom shops around, Colorado has one or 2 I think. I prefer the Skyler because it using the existing system to mount the rails. None of these are cheap.
