I'm due for a transmission service and I'm looking at getting the PPE deep pan. Rudy's Performance has a full kit. Pan, filter, gasket, 16qts of mercon ulv for $616. Is that a good deal or would I be better off with the individual parts?
If you are doing this at home, you will just be doing a pan drain, shouldn't need 16 quarts.
My deep pan took a little over 10, that is a 3 extra quart pan.
Anyway, sounds kind of high to me.
Look all the components up, see what each costs.
Is the fluid Motorcraft LV and the filter Motorcraft as well? I wouldn’t use any other fluid nor filter that wasn’t OEM.
I recently did a trans service, drain and fill, but purchased a Dorman pan with a drain plug also filter and fluid (3-gal) all Motorcraft except the pan. I paid in total about $250. The pan seemed to be good quality.

Good luck,

I did the same thing as you. That Dorman pan for $40 was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, he has the 10R140 so the cheap Dorman pan isn't an option. If I were him, I'd drop the factory pan, weld a drain plug nut on the bottom and re-install it.

The 10R140 pan is plastic so you can't weld anything to it unfortunately.
I got a quote from the local dealer my parents have gone to for decades and they said $500. I priced it out at the time and it seemed like a decent price but no way I was paying that much. They had to do it under warranty anyways but the invoice said 11 quarts was used.
Tranny service....no comments. To each there own.
Transmission service on the 10r140 is ridiculously easy and 11qts should do it for the stock pan and MC filter.
50k miles, less when towing or beating er'

On my '22, I had 35,000 towing miles, and had the pan dropped and fluid changed at 51,000. Sample sent to Blackstone, nothing abnormal. I plan to do it again at about 80,000 miles. I could not see getting a larger pan.
