Stupid question regarding my order status
That's awesome!!! Thank you for sharing! I'm hoping what I'm seeing is true. I figure I'll know one way or another in a few more days. Fingers crossed!
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
OP, of all the plants Ford has the SDs at KTP is the least likely to be affected by the aluminum supplier issue. My order too was placed on Oct 3rd and it was done and shipped on 10/30. Your truck is probably scheduled based on the kitting it requires so it is likely determined by one of the component/part set rather than the aluminum. Hopefully it gets kitted out and assembled before the Thanksgiving week.

Superduties are probably he highest margin products for Ford given their high price, relatively cheap to produce components including motors especially the gas motor versions that are NA Port injected motors, less electronics compared to 1/2 tons as >8500 gvwr vehicles with less stringent safety/mpg/emissions scrutiny, without having to worry about hybrid versions, start/stop, turbos on the gas motor, driver's assists, etc. In the past 5 years the bottle neck has always been specialty components that slow things down. Plus there is a large stock of F150s nationwide so it is in their best interest to keep the 26 MY SD production as smoothly as possible.

Gotcha. Now that I think about it, I didn't start checking online for my order status until I received a 2nd email from Ford that said my "Order Update: The build date of your Super Duty Lariat® has been scheduled". Also in that email is a button labeled "Track my order". So maybe after you receive that 2nd email, your order will show up under your online account.
Hmm, i have had a ford account and fordpass app for many years but it does not show any orders. I have actually been checking the site about every other day since my order out of curiosity so I was thinking my order just has not progressed to being in my account yet. It shows my two existing Ford vehicles but zero order history. Granted, i have not ordered a Ford before nor have I ordered parts online from Ford. I have only walked into local dealer for unique parts when needed. Below is what i am seeing. How soon did your order show up in your account? Thinking I may need to call them in the morning.
When did you get your notification (2nd notification you referenced that contained the build date)? I don't believe I spec'd anything unusual so I am hoping that my timing tracks yours and "twobelugas".
I ordered an F250 Lariat 21 days after you (Oct 24th) which will be my first diesel and first Superduty. Please post updates on your truck's progress through delivery. This will be my first Ford order so I am curious as to whether the dealer or region makes a difference in delivery times. Although I live in SC, I ordered from Granger Ford in Des Moines, Iowa (high volume dealer = faster delivery??). Dealer indicated 2-6 month delivery which was surprising but I know that aluminum plant fire has an impact. Hoping that I can post a pic of my new truck in January while getting to know it on the 1,000 mile journey home. Thanks in advance for any info.

I got a quote from Granger last month and was told 4-8 months wait. I think the reason for the long wait through them is they take in more orders than they have allocations for and there is a wait list that has to be gone through as allocations open up. Yes they are high volume and great pricing but their ability to supply is outstripped by demand. I went to a local dealer last month and was told by the salesman that they had plenty of allocations available and it would be less than 2 months for an F350 order to come in. I placed an order (10/15) after getting pricing that was darn close to Granger (within $1000) and that order was confirmed by Ford the same day via email with another email coming the next day (10/16) telling me that the build was scheduled (11/17) and was also issued a VIN. So far it is looking like less than 2 months if all goes well.
I received the first email from Ford, confirming the order, on the same day the order was placed (10/3). I received the 2nd email from Ford, that I mentioned earlier, on 10/9...so 6 days later. I don't think I spec'd anything unusual either. It was a Lariat with the 6.7 HO, Upfitter switches, block heater and aux heater...that's pretty much it, I think.
Just spoke with Ford HQ and they confirmed what you indicated. When the build date notification email is sent it will also contain the VIN and then I can track it online.

Total perhaps, but per unit, not with the new tech they have been forced to put into the 1/2 tons. Even the Coyote is now a complicated mess with cylinder shut off, start-stop, dual injection methods, and the whole rest of the truck that has to be minimized weight wise and optimized for EPA mpg calculations and Emissions requirements.

Coyote is a mess? LOL. I just spent the last 4.5 years in a '21 F150 5.0L CrewCab that was virtually flawless for 86K miles.

(we supply a major component for 65% of all NA market Ford and Lincoln vehicles and have done so since 2014-2015)
