How long has it been used in your van? Most RTV is not resistant to gasoline and it doesn't seem like ACDelco 10-2006 is either. It's advertised as resistant to oil and coolants as an "engine sealant" but it is not promoted as a "fuel pump sealant". Do you have some documentation that says otherwise?

You are 100% correct, I grabbed the wrong sealant. The point was to use a sealant ( gas resistant as you say) to bed the sending unit in instead of relying on the gasket, specially in an older truck. That lock ring seems to apply uneven pressure, again, especially in an old truck. I will edit the post, used the ACDelco on an intake manifold and wasn’t thinking about the gasoline.
Sealer for gasoline?
They do make putty epoxy that will stand up to gasoline for wooden boat fuel tanks
I use it on gas tanks when I cannot fins another tank and welding is not an option
Marine epoxy and it's white
Just use a new O-ring each time or let the old one dry out for a week
Those O-rings like to expand and then do not fit the groove well
If you be real careful, you can watch the pump go down and the O-ring seat in the groove as you go down with the pump
That's what I do
I ABSOLUTELY watch the pump go down and hit the O-ring, verifying it's still in the groove
That's the best way to prevent a recheck
I used the wrong sealant, ACDelco 19-2006 engine sealant, I forgot it wasn’t for gas, but all I know, is when I embedded that sending unit flange in that ACDelco, all of my issues were resolved. Seems like more of s sure thing with an old tank with the neck possibly dented or bent and the tabs bent or worn. Just my guess.
