Identify this part please

Looking to see if someone knows the correct part number or part description for the interior window fascia/molding for the barn doors on my 98 conversion van. I have two that have sun rotted to such a state that I had a passenger complain about the sharp plastic shards yesterday. I went ahead and removed the both hoping I might be able to cobble one together, but alas that is not happening.

I've tried calling the local junkyards (such as they are - when did they all decide to become car auction non parts yards?) and without knowing the magic actual name, none of them understood what I wanted. Here is a pic of the two broken ones arranged into a semblence of a complete one. This is the door side on both sets (side and rear) surprisingly enough the other doors are ok, though I don't want to poke them too hard.

Thanks for any help

Those are probably unique to whatever company converted the van and are not Ford parts.

Chances of finding that same conversion van at a local yard would be slim.

Do a search using that company's name for "interior door trim".

Search craigslist or Facebook Marketplace for vans being parted out.

Here's a Ford part:

Yup, those were the magic words for search. I agree that Starcraft may have had those customized - they're covered in some sort of flocking but if I could find a matching OEM set for both sets of doors, I'd happily just swap them all out. Not seeing much on evilbay other than the one you posted, but it gives me search criteria to look for. For now I may remove the other two and install RV curtains or similar to provide shade/privacy which would replace the roman shades they had installed inside those bezels.

Many thanks!

Do you mean the interior window trim on higher end passenger vans?

Cargo vans and lower end passenger vans don't have such trim so you see body color metal. I'm not familiar with conversions but I'd be surprised if someone recreated parts available from Ford. At most they might paint the part or apply flocking for a fabric finish. Just guessing.

Here's one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116815235324 . You can try a site like this - https://ford.oempartsonline.com/v-19...trim-side-door - for part number and names. Mind that there might be different parts for fixed and hinged windows.

Good point on the windows - the side one is a clip/openable style where the back door is a standard fixed one. The one you linked Ebay says doesn't fit my 98, but I dunno how much to trust their auto-verificatioin of fit. Amazon is another example of things they say fit....don't, and vice versa. Will check the part search page as well. Mucho thanks!

FWIW, 303 Protectant is great for staving off UV damage. You just have to figure out which of a dozen varieties to apply. Works well on plastic headlights too.

A junkyard is a cheap option
Mine is a StarCraft too and those interior panels suck to say the least
I keep looking for decent factory panels for mine
I can find those aftermarket trim pieces easy at the junkyards I visit around Salt Lake

Serious envy. The local "junkyards" have all turned into "auction lots" and don't sell parts anymore. I live about 60 miles north of the border and I expect a lot of auction autos head south and thus are a quick investment and payout versus parting out and then crushing hulks. Been going to yards since I was 15 (40 or so years) and I'm sad to say the least. CL and Fleabay and Marketfarce are the only options or buying a junker and stripping it myself.

Or what I'm likely to do - strip the panels and live with the bare metal for now and gussy it up with vinyl and padding that I fabricate myself.

Do you have any of the Starcraft documentation that you would be willing to scan and share? Haven't found anything online to download or buy that has the specific details on wiring, etc.

Happy Trails!

I can look, but I think I didn't get much from Starcraft in my dealer purchase packet
I bought mine used, from a guy who bought it new, from the dealer I worked for, and I got all the paperwork
What color is that window surround?
Mine started out as a light blue but is now mostly grey do to sunlight fading
I'm sure I can find one of those panels at some point, but shipping one may be cost prohibitive
Starcraft was sold years ago, (2001) and they are gone, but I still find (some) parts for custom vans at ARA, mostly windows
I think ARA may be gone now too

The interior (which is faded and stained on the high traffic areas) is a taupe/light brown color. The panels I removed are a tan color with a flocked surface. Since I've decided to do a light padding with a matching vinyl when I refresh the interior over this winter, I appreciate the offer to look for the panels, but I don't think I'll go that way since they are so fragile.

My plan is to recover the door panels with a matching modern PU/vinyl over masonite with a padding layer to reduce noise and provide a bit of bump protection for passengers on the flatter door panels and update the driver and passenger door cards with vinyl dye and new carpet. Also, this will be when I update all of the doors to have puddle lights that are an independent circuit from the dome lights and have downward facing led lights for entry at night. The doghouse and floor carpet also to be updated, including a new layer of sound abatement/heat shield in addition to any existing but suited for purpose original padding. Going to cut a pattern off of the original carpet when its removed. I may change my mind and do the front cab in nothing but rubber and leave the passenger area carpeted, not sure yet. The headliner is in good shape, so don't need to do anything major with that, other than replace broken factory air vents. I'll go with the RV style blackout curtains on the windows that are usually gathered at the sides of the window and can be pulled to the center for when we use the rig for overnighting somewheres.

I am keeping the parts that I remove from the van that are serviceable, especially anything that Starcraft did so that in the future someone else may get lucky and find that I can provide a "unicorn" part.

Happy Trails!

Medium Graphite trim for the passenger rear door, F7UZ 1642410-AAD and the drivers rear door, F7UZ 1642411-AAD.

I checked the national parts locator and there's not a one anywhere in dealer inventories.

I like the idea of rubber mat up front
Way easier to get the doghouse off with rubber than **** carpet
I think when mine crack, I'll try to cover them with leather or fake leather (real thin)
Wrap it around and glue it, stick them back on
Custom vans are sweet, I love mine, wish I had a manual bed like my last one and not the powered one I have now
