Plastic strip inside windshield trim

Anyone ever replace the thin strip of black plastic inside your windshield trim?
What did you use and or where did you get it?
I believe if some of that could be found that is wider,... or if you could get it wide enough to touch the windshield...
It would....
1. Help prevent leaks...
2. Keep crud from getting behind the trim and rusting the body out around the windshield. Especially on the bottom and bottom sides!!!
The thin, stiff, black plastic is kinda like a closed Y, where the inside of the Y, V's is where it clips to the trim and the leg of the Y, if long enough would touch the windshield.

Has anyone ever found where you could get any of that?
I guess I am using the wrong search words because I have had no luck.

I searched here but didn't find what you're looking for.

https://www.steelerubber.com/

Might you be able to cut your own from plastic material you get the hardware store?

It sound like you are looking for something to fill the gap between the glass and the body to keep the water & dirt out.
I dont think you will find anything that will work with out pulling the glass and having it glued in like the new cars & trucks do as that fills the gap but note the gap on ours is pretty big and if they glue it and the put the molding on you will never get the molding off as it & clips will be glued too.

On the glue in glass the gap between glass and body is pretty small, like 1/4".
I am doing a custom flush glass install on a 70's car and I have to weld metal in to close this gap, it is a lot of work.
I will use a T type rubber to finish the glass to body like the new cars / trucks are done.

Thank ya'll for the replies.......
I will keep hunting but it is looking like more unobtanium for our trucks.
I also took a closer look at the plastic strip and it attaches differently than I thought.
First it is around .015" thick.
And it is still Y type material, but the leg of the Y and one arm of the Y is what holds it in the aluminum molding.
It is the other arm of the Y that goes out past the molding and what needs to be longer.
Not sure if the bottom trim even has any on it, or maybe it did in the past and is gone now???.......
Will put it back together but keep searching for something that will work or how to use something different to get the same job done.

If you can post up a picture or 2 of this plastic you are talking of as I dont really understand what it is you are talking of.
I am wondering if this plastic was used to hold the molding tight so it would not rattle with the air going over it when at speed?

And again, I do not know if there was any on the bottom trim where it needs it the most.
None on mine.

Thats what I thought you were talking about.
As far as I know it was not to keep water & dirt out but to keep the molding from rattling around on the glass making noise when the wind blows across it.
If you pull the lower molding off and look in the lower corners you should see a small hole. This was to let water drain out but being so small they plugged up with dirt pretty quickly and everything would now sit behind the molding till it rusted away.
I also never seen that you could get just that plastic as it came as part of the molding from the dealers.
