working on lowering a 34 rear end. took the transverse spring out to remove a few leaf's, trying to get the center bolt back in, the leaf's keep sliding off the main. more twisting forward and off,
anyone with ideas on on too keep them square while compressing the set to get the center bolt back in place? other than a few sets of trailer spring mounts square u/bolts of various lengths
don't want to order a custom spring till we know just how we need a new one made,
i picked up a pair of trailer axle square u bolts 3 inches wide the springs 2 1/2 , in hopes they help, this ones a first for me , done many a model a with out any problem ,than that spring isn't like a A . 32 though 34 use one odd shape to clear the rear center section
now i'm in need of finding a transverse spring spreader, so i can get the shackles back on , anyone have a photo or photos of the one used on 32 to 34's?
thanks ,but we have that style, they work great on A's and 35 up ,not so well on 32 though 34's that have a very odd arch shaped spring that bends forward around the rear housing, .which puts the shackle ends about 3 inches forward , of the rear cross member, would be no problem if the customer would let us use a 4 link coil over, but NO stock but lowered transverse spring with a quick change rear
guess I'm going to be digging out the mig and making something that wraps around the rear, like this person did
1934 .model 40 5 window sedan , that home made one should work as it wraps around the back of the rear . making it now will also help with the 32, 3 window we just got to do a mechanical restoration on, YES a unmolested v8 32 3 window rumble
