Warn Hubs

For those of you that installed Warn manual locking hubs.......

On my 2000 F250 with alloy wheels, will the wheel center caps still fit if I install the Warn hubs?

Thanks,

SDB

Can I ask why you would want to install the Warn hubs?

Thanks for asking.......

My ESOF hubs are beginning to act up. Difficult to turn the ****, and I am beginning to doubt their ability to be reliable.

But seriously, will the center caps still fit? Or will I have to modify them?

I can't answer your question about the center caps, but I am going to try and save you some money.

Take your existing hubs apart, clean them, lubricate them, replace seals if you need to, and put them back on. They are every bit as functional and strong as the Warn units IMHO. You can operate them just as you would the Warn manual hubs, you don't have to worry about the center caps fitting, and you have the option of at least trying the ESOF first.

Total cost to you, a couple hours in the shop or driveway.

Just my $.02.

I probably should have supplied more detail in my first post......

Last night while doing a tire rotation and lube job in my garage, I noticed that the outer seal (by the turn ****) is working it's way out of the space between the **** and the housing. Upon taking the assembly apart, I could not find a way to remove the **** without destroying something.

I was able to work the o-ring back into position with some light oil, and for now the **** turns more freely. Still, and after reading several posts on the subject, I am thinking that I might be better off with an aftermarket hub assembly. (I could be wrong)

None the less, the origional question remains, will the center caps still fit with the warn hubs?

I'd say they will still work.
This is purely a guess, but Warn would have nothing to gain and a few customers to lose if the factory center caps didn't work with their hubs.

I think the center caps will fit. From what I've heard the Warn hubs are a little smaller (shorter?) than the factory hubs.

Let us know how you like the Warn hubs. I have ESOF hubs and they aggravate me because they often don't fully disengage and I have a 'click, click, click' when turning. They work better after a good greasing but they still aggravate me.

I think I may have figured out why the ESOF hubs don't always disengage right away. The silver stripe in the middle of the manual engage **** is actually a sintered metal vent for the ESOF diaphram. When the vent becomes dirty, it does not pass the air as rapidly, therefore the hubs become sluggish.

I havent figured out a way to clean these yet. Does anyone know how to remove the **** without destroying the hub assembly?

I got the ***** to turn freely by working some lubrication into the space between the **** and the hub, but now I want to correct the delayed release problem.

Thanks,

SDB
