No reverse
I have a 1947 1/2 ton pickup with a 3 speed transmission. I believe the transmission was rebuilt about 10 years ago. Now I am finally getting close to driving the truck I have a slight problem. It will go in 1, 2, and 3 gear but it will not shift into reverse. The shifter just stops when I attempt to to get into reverse. Does anybody have any ideas what could be causing this.

?is the engine running and you can't get in reverse? first and reverse are not sync., so it might not slide into reverse. I have the same tranny in my 47,I had a hard time with it jamming in 2nd gear. Did it work after rebuilt? I got mac van pelt's book on our transmissions, it helped me alot to figure out what was wrong. maybe your syncronizers are bad,like my spelling, good luck! tony

3RD as i can't count the number of times they have saved my six, last was a 33 Woodie wagon with a clutch not releasing issue, told them the problem, they called the failed item right on the nails head, told me what would be wise to change, cross shaft, shaft bushings, fork lever pins,
