Does anyone know what we need to do to get the newly allowed extended empty DEF range before limp/de-rate kicks-in? Is this a dealer visit, free or paid?
Why worry about it............I fill my DEF tank when I get the notice from the truck..........If I'm not towing I get at least 9K miles on a refill of 5 gallons of DEF.............

I’m in as soon as it is available. Like he said in the video if your sensor flakes out you could go into de rate. Also no guarantees it wouldn’t be rescinded later on down the line.

I use about 2.5 gallons a year ….i time it so I know I’m no higher than half full going into winter to allow for freeze expansion …hopefully preventing cracks. So ideally add the 2.5 gallons every spring.
but…I’m running methonal injection (blue washer fluid) which reduces NOX anyway so NOX reduction via DEF injection becomes a lower need.
